TRANSPLANT JOY CLUB

Midnight at the Oasis?

The Joy Club hosted an evening event a few weeks ago, and if you weren’t there, we are sad that you missed it!    In contrast to a few of the promotional pics we distributed prior to the California Academy of Science’s stellar weekly happening, Nightlife at the Academy, there was no dancing to be had… unless you happen to count the way the stars danced about the sky and around the planets on the ceiling of the Planetarium during an exceptional presentation that reminded us about the vastness of our Universe, and if you had imbibed on a few adult beverages prior to the screening, the finiteness of our bladders.

The sharks, stingrays, and penguins didn’t seem to pay us any mind as we strolled about their hallways, but the starfish we caressed at the shallow pool exhibition may have offered up a few terse words for us had they been able.     By 10 o’clock we had wandered out of the Academy, still bright eyed, but now merely slaves to such constant pangs of hunger in our stomachs that we knew we wouldn’t make it any further then 9th Avenue and the infamous Park Chow.

For all those that were able to sneak out on a Thursday night (we know it’s tough for most of you!) and enjoy the fish and the stars, thanks for coming!    We may do this one again in due time.   Until then, stay tuned for some new Joy Club happenings on the horizon.

Best fishes,
Raymond Cogan
Joy Club Chair
